 Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act - its a federal law that lets people who have left/lost their jobs to continue their health insurance benefits beyond termination.  it is wicked expensive, but I believe they are supposed to offer it by law

I didn't have insurance through my job. Couldn't afford it. I had PA medicaid.
